TOOLS

If you are going to pursue the investigation of monsters, which I highly suggest you do, you are going to need some tools.

Research:

  • Journal - You're going to need to make notes, extensive notes. An A5 sized journal should help with this. Try to draw diagrams wherever possible too. And of course, bring a pencil.
  • Polaroid Camera - This is a quick and easy way to collect photographs of anything you may see. But beware, the flash could startle any nearby monsters. Use with caution.
  • Sample Set - Test tubes, swabs, blood slides. Anything you can use to collect blood or other substance samples. Very useful for discovering what exactly you're dealing with.
  • Various other tools - Magnifying glass/Tape Measure etc... Only necessary for those of you with a deep desire to truly delve into the lives of these creatures.
  • Watch - Always keep track of time, it could be the difference between life and death.
Defense:
  • Pepper Spray - Although technically illegal to carry this will come in handy in some very tricky situations. As long as you aren't carrying it on the streets then you should be fine.
  • Kevlar Body Armour - Not needed at all times but worth having anyway. If you know you will be coming into contact with something particularly nasty then please do wear Kevlar. Also worth wearing on your first few expeditions, you never know what you might find.
  • Small Knife - Only to be used when all else fails. These creatures should never be harmed intentionally but please do not put their safety over yours. Try to avoid close proximity with these creatures at all costs, not matter how harmless they look.
With these tools you will be able to enrich your investigations and hopefully avoid the safe fate that befell me.

BEWARE THE HUNTERS

There are some among us who believe that all monsters should be hunted and killed.

These people are not to be trusted.

They hunt for sport, they hunt out of malice.

Some of them sell their services.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PAY THESE PEOPLE.

They should not be rewarded for what they do.

They kill.

They murder.

Monsters can be problematic, I admit this, I know this first hand. But they do not deserve to die.

If you have a monster problem then please do not resort to violence. They can be reasoned with and they can be befriended.

Protect them.

Do not trust the hunters.

MY STORY

My first encounter with a monster was when I was a child.

I was small and she was very, very big.

A beast, a mother.

At the time I was not able to identify which exact species this monster was but through my research I have come to believe that she was a Millusk, a creature descended from the Lycanthropic line after they were all killed off during an enormous cull in the early thirties.

From the ashes of that race came another, bigger, stronger race.

I believe this was the race I encountered.

Unlike the Lycans, the Millusk were never human but they still have some human traits.

Any regular human mother would do anything for their child no matter what. In Millusk's this is amplified and mixed with a beast's desire to protect it's young.

So when I stumbled over that branch and fell straight down into the Millusk's den, I was not greeted with a warm welcome.

That beast took my leg, my childhood and even my mind for a while.

If I could meet her today I would thank her, from a safe distance of course.

She allowed me to focus my  mind and fully experience a world which, although often horrifying, can be truly beautiful at times.

OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE

They're all around us, everywhere.

It's not a case of us not being able to see them, it's a case of us not looking.

Go into any forest, any one of them and you'll find one, somewhere.

A MONSTER.

I've seen many of them and even more have seen me.

I will be updating this blog with my findings over the coming months but please people, go out there and see for yourself.

You're missing out on a whole other world.
